First time users must setup an account to access the New York Times website from any device. After registering, you can access the New York Times via the web or a NY Times app using the email and password you used to register.
In order to use the NY Times Online from your laptop, tablet, or phone, you need to setup a NY Times account. If you have an existing account, you can link it to the Library’s NYT subscription. Students are allowed access through graduation, while faculty and staff access must be renewed each year. Use the following instructions to setup your account.
If you prefer not to have a NY Times account, you can access the site anytime using the link on the Library’s website (or see ACCESSING THE NEW YORK TIMES ONLINE above).
1) Go to http://nytimesineducation.com/access-nyt/ and search for Eckerd College.
2) Log into your existing NYT account (if you have saved a profile) OR create a new one. You might use an existing account to retain your saved articles and preferences.
NOTE: IF YOU HAVE AN EXISTING ACCOUNT USING YOUR @eckerd.edu E-MAIL:
If you already subscribe to The New York Times with your @eckerd.edu email, you will need to cancel your NY Times subscription BEFORE linking your existing account to the Library's subscription. Users need to call (800) 698-4637 or email edu@nytimes.com to request cancelation of their personal subscription prior to linking your account. This process will cancel your existing subscription but your New York Times account will remain in tact so any saved articles will be retained when you link your account to the Library's subscription by click the Already have an account? Log in here >> link.
3) Proceed with the following setup instructions to start your access. You will need to indicate your affiliation with the college.
Verify your e-mail is correct:
Confirm your email address by clicking on the link sent to the e-mail address provided. You may be asked to set up a password if you haven’t previously done so.
Once setup is complete, you will see the following confirmation and optional calendar notification for when your account is scheduled to expire (faculty/staff only).
From here click the Go to NYTimes.com button.
4) Once setup is complete, you can verify your subscription under the Account menu in the top left corner where it should say Digital Subscriber under your username:
6) Use this same account to login via all your other devices. This includes logging in via a NY Times app specific to your device. NOTE: Subscription does NOT include access to the NY Times Crossword app.
